flowers from the attic

i had a dream i was diving deep underwater
and i could breathe.. there was kissing
and a castle deep in the sea.
when i woke up i put on my
flower tights.. well.. flower
tight? and went to buy
some more paint
brushes for the
dollhouse.

dollhouse day

today i found a dollhouse at my local thrift!
it was all brown so i am having to paint it.
i think i may use it as a little bookshelf?
maybe cover each room's ceiling with
fluffy clouds and then hang stars?

suddenly i suspected... the cabinet was listening

busted.

arrrr foiled aGAIN.

ace rip job

now thats an ace rip job.

simon just came in the room and said
"you smell nice what is it?"
i said "aveda."

then he said, "darth vader?"

"no."

now hes writing aveda to tell them
they should come out with a new
perfume called "darth avadar"
im totally going to get me some of that.

ghosts are almost always tear-shaped

listening to silent stories from the ocean.
because they are silent, they will sound

you are right.. ghosts can be very very quiet
but that doesnt mean that they dont exist.
they are like love, sometimes
they dont make a sound.

here is a little ghost skirt i made
and wore it all the way over the
ocean back to england...
my customs officer said
"welcome." no ones
ever said that to
me before.

the skirt is made of vintage doll dresses.

a bird that knows underwater things

the swan is a bird that knows underwater things.
you can look at the surface long enough
but there is never any way to tell what
is going on under the water.
what dark fish are lurking?
what seaweed ribbons
are making archways
and we know
nothing
about
it.

most of these slips were dyed eons ago
with a powder blue dye.. and only just
now pulled out brushed off and torn
up to make a fairy skirt.. its a bit
too poofy but all the better for
dancing about? little wisps of
smoke dont linger very long.
they just up and away
sometimes and fast.

my cousin was here
with me this week
and now shes gone
back to wisconsin.
i miss her so much
because she hears
the fairies too.

fairy skirts i made this week

friend the girl close up (i used the same type of sequins on
both skirts because it was so necessary to do so.

peach fairy is made of a vintage dressing gown and other lacy bits
the woman at the antique shop told me the lady that owned this
gown lived with her sisters until they were in their 90's.. none of
them ever got married.. and they kept eVERYTHING. subsequently
EVERYthing they owned is in the antique store! she asked me what
i was going to do with the things i bought.. i didnt have the heart
to tell her they were about to be ruthlessly shredded and combined.

ralph lauren button up and other lacy bits.

today we went to the grocery.
i got some sushi.
when we were checking out
the man packing the bags
noticed a little packet of
soy sauce had gotten
missed.. so he took
the time to look
through every
bag to make
sure he got
it in the
right
one.

i thought that was really really sweet of him.
imagine if everyone took a little extra time
to make things lovely for someone else.
it would be like a little bit of baby
oil on the whole worlds heart.
