tiny violet hand puff
its a tiny violet hand puff.. my latest design ♥
over 200 crocheted and felted violets are crammed and smushed together because i forced them to be in love with each other.
the inside of this little puff is lined with white purr-soft angora ♥
i wore it around my neck on a green velvet ribbon when i went to stonehenge overnight..... it kept my porpies so warm!
porpies are hands. danielle and i used to pretend our hands were dolphins and make them swim in the air... somehow porpoise porpoise turned to porpie porpie and it stuck. i still call them that always.
i think this little puff will come in handy in the fall... but i cant help that i finished it in the summer. i will like to wear it with a black coat.
when i said i fell down in a patch of violets i wasnt kidding. i was totally surrounded... i crocheted little violets like i was shelling peas... i tossed them in a little basket for months before i had enough.
want to make your own? ive written up the pattern
the pattern uses knitting & crochet and sport weight & chunky wool.
it is shaped so your hands kind of *pop* in just like a real victorian muff.
hehehe i said muff.

It is beautiful and looks ever so soft. Your photos are always so pretty and enchanting! A. xx
Oh, I love it! I know it's violets, but with them all together it makes me think a little of a big hydrangea too. Really very much too bad I don't know how to crochet!
wow! that is so beautiful-you'll really be testing my crochet skills with this one!
~ever so sweet...intricate and detailed in the most feminine way! and here i was excited to have learned to finally make a granny square...must crochet more...l♥♥♥ve...warm wishes and brightest blessings~
this is gorgeous! i've been looking for a muff pattern, what yarn did you use?
M
thanks knittens!
the crochet is actually super simple..
it is 2 little rounds... each one takes
a few minutes to finish.. then you make the
little yellow middle and pop it in!
you can do it!!!!!!!!!
geeee i wish i could do some sort of
online class to help... hmmmmmm....
anyway:
techs for the uber-knitten:
i used blue sky alpaca melange
sport weight for the violets.
any sport weight felting wool
will do. imagine the different
colors you could use!
the base of the puff
is knitted in rowan
big wool and lined
with angora...
leaves are also in big wool!

So super cute! This makes me wish I would finally learn how to crochet.
It is darling! I need one of those right now for my porpies...it's cold, cold winter here downunder...(cute garden, btw)
Oh, I love it! I've always been rather enchanted with muffs (have you seen any from the 18th century? So darling, with silky covers and lots of floral embroidery) Yours is just wonderful. And it is a crochet pattern, right? That's great since I don't know how to knit, but just learned to crochet and need something to improve my skills!
That is so sweet. You did a wonderful job!
Belle-Etoile ah! im sorry it takes knitting too!!!
the base is knitted in a tube.. then
the flowers are crocheted and attached after...
you could probably crochet the tube though???
i got inspired for this one because i bought
a victorian muff from kempton and the edges
were kind of tight and the middle all smushy
and roomy.. i had to make one! cheeeeky ♥
O, your violet puff is so sweet and pretty. I've never crocheted anything though...
Oh! I think I could crochet the tube alright. If worst comes to worst I could make the inner part myself and then follow your directions for the flowers. Thanks for letting me know.
Also, I forgot to say earlier, but you look lovely in this post, and your boots are wonderful!

That's a lovely muff! Seriously though, these photos are so pretty and you've made such an original hand warmer, clever you! :) PS..just found you on Myspace (I'm a bit slow!)xx
this is really the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!
I've been so smitten with this on Ravelry! Angora! Violets! Perfection!
(I've got to say, the only thing that could make this any better would be a tiny pocket inside to tuck secret messages in.)
This is gorgeous!
Sooo sweet.
Hugs
Little spot of shimmer and sweet you left on my blog, thanks!!! Lovely lovely place here and your talents abound! Can't wait to catch-up with some coffee this morning. Blessings dear one and light to all you do.
Just had to let you know this bit o' cute! Turned on your london show on your sidebar and your voice was singing sweet and I hear my three year old call from his crib, "Mama, I want to sit with the faery music, too! Come to me Mama!" Now, that is the dearest compliment from a sweeet, little soul. Just thought you would smile dear one on this! hee hee. Blessings and light,
Amy Sperry Faldet
flippin heck!!!]]its stunning!!!
I cannot even do Granny Squares or I would be so tempted. You should be doing a DVD or online courses. My daughter spotted your Blog and you and asked me if you were a child. She must have glimpsed something of your soul. xx

i was feeling QUITE low (like whats the point of life low) when i read that and it really totally lifted me up.

maaaayyyybbbeee i should do a knitting vlog show... ??? hmmmmm.... foooood for thought...
also about your little one.. i find it soo soo
funny.. kids always are very confused by me!
they always ask what i am!
one time a little girl asked me,
"are you A kid or A adult?"
heheheha!
i couldnt answer her.. because im not sure myself! :D
I am sooo glad he spread some light on the valley you were in. He has a way of doing that for people and I try to dedicate my days to scattering joy! My daughter (11) and I love your clothes! We would dress like this always, but, a bit hard to find fun clothes in our small town in Evansville, Wisconsin. We are getting creative though with what we find! Looked up more info on your music and trying to find where we can buy some and see you are from Wisconsin, too! Small, world!
Going to put on some of your songs and throw the roast in, so don't mind me I won't take up much room here! hee hee. So glad to know this joyous new spot dear! Take care little light!
so presh!

Hello Fairy Friend, :-)
Now, this is a really lovely post!
I don't know how you have the patience to make all the little violets... You will have to show us how you create flowers. You could do a knitting video. That would be a great idea!
I would really like to know how to crochet flowers. :-)
Thank you for your magical message.
Have a good weekend.
Fairy love and blessings.xx
Ahh... came to listen to some white mice and debussy and realized that I was off about birthday and home town... sorry dear. Our cat wants in she jumps up on the very old saucer sized bell in between our old doors and balances and rocks the knob like she knows that is how to open it! Off... I go... back in a sec.
