fairy skirts i made this week

fairy skirt # 1 "the peach fairy"

front view

fairy skirt # 2 "friend the girl"

friend the girl close up (i used the same type of sequins on
both skirts because it was so necessary to do so.

peach fairy is made of a vintage dressing gown and other lacy bits
the woman at the antique shop told me the lady that owned this
gown lived with her sisters until they were in their 90's.. none of
them ever got married.. and they kept eVERYTHING. subsequently
EVERYthing they owned is in the antique store! she asked me what
i was going to do with the things i bought.. i didnt have the heart
to tell her they were about to be ruthlessly shredded and combined.

back view 2

friend the girl is made of a very old victorian looking
ralph lauren button up and other lacy bits.

little fairy friends side by side

these are mostly for unicorn riding,

but can be worn to parties in the woods,

or to the pond for firefly watching.

you need a fancy etsy to share these wares!

Such gorgeous skirts! I'm sure those old ladies would be glad that you have transformed their things into something magical of your own.
Happy unicorn riding!

I adore these skirts. You are my style icon! You are an amazing singer, knitter, clothing designer, and role model- I wish you would sell these skirts on Etsy, but understand why you wouldn't want to part with them. Thank you for being wonderful :)

I am head over heals in love with this skirt! I have been looking to make something like this for quite some time now! Did you pretty much just sew the bits of lace to the skirt?

Amazing job!!

stephanie dosen said...

thanks!!!
yes kind of.. except i made them from the ground up...
i put a big thick band of elastic in and went from there!
its fun to do! all you need is patience!
xoxoxo

What about for the second one without the elastic (I intend to make a zipper skirt)? Same thing? I have bags and bags full of lace and I am super excited to use it on something similar to this!

stephanie dosen said...

ah.. i just had a big piece of ribbed fabric!
i put it into a tube :)
good luck and let me know when you get some done!
happy to help inspire.. :)
